Today was Dad's pick of things to do, so we headed off to the Palace of Versailles. We took a double decker RER train which took about an hour.

When we arrived at the train station there was a very loud air raid siren ringing through the town. It was very odd. We followed herds of tourists to find our way to the palace.

The palace was huge and extravagant. Once home to Marie Antoinette, my Dad informed us that it was the most "elustrious castle in the world".

There was also an exhibition of @[112145348797051:Jeff Koons] sculptures dotted around the palace. We pretended to pop this one.

We were given audio guides to lead us around.

      The ceilings were amazing.

I'm not sure if the sculptures really fitted with the surroundings. It kind of spoilt the image of 16th century France seeing a statue of Michelle Jackson and inflatable lobster in the middle of the room.

After touring the palace, we went to see the magnificent gardens and to eat our packed lunch of croissants with cream cheese and salmon.

  3. Checkin at Starbucks Coffee

By the end of our visit we were very cold, so we headed to Starbucks to warm ourselves up with dark cherry mochas. We sat and chatted for a while, even though Dad was keen to get home and see the football.
