Today we headed to the Benson Summerfest. Benson is a part of Omaha which feels like a small old American town with crazy local shops.

There were lots of stalls and lots of fancy old cars parked up for people to look at. Tom picked his favourite which was sparkly blue and I picked my favourite which was sparkly red and white and looked like a diner inside.

We stopped for a drink in Jake's bar where the barman gave us infinite free drink top ups and free unlimited peanut butter pretzels which are the best bar snack ever!

We then got to meet the @[62812610158:Omaha Rollergirls] who thought we needed some temporary tattoos and had a look at some of the stalls.

  6. Edit

There was even a drive-through tobacco shop which was really busy.

  7. Checkin at Friendly Used Books
    1. Edit

We then went for a look around Friendly's Bookstore which was filled with thousands of old and interesting books priced at $1.

    2. Edit

The bookshelves were made out of blocks of stone and there were funny comic clippings everywhere.

We then went for a drink in the Benson Grind coffee shop where I tried an Italian Soda and some cake pops.

    2. Edit

An Italian soda is made up of syrup, soda water and cream but I wouldn't recommend one.

We had some time to kill before heading to the diner, so we went for another drink in the Waiting Room.

Lots of bands play here and the walls were covered in signed posters. We almost came to see The Thermals here on our first night but we were too tired.

  10. Checkin at Leo's Diner
    1. Edit

It was then time for dinner so we headed to Leo's Diner which we had heard serves pancakes the size of your face.

My breakfast arrived on two different plates (I thought I'd ordered the wrong thing at first) and the pancakes were as big as my face! I only managed to eat one pancake and we had to take the rest home in a box for breakfast.

  11. Edit

We walked off our diner food with a stroll through the leafy suburb streets. I joked that we'd see a yard sale and a lemonade stall and we did within the first two blocks. There were also tiny little baby bunnies running through the gardens and we spotted another black squirrel.

We walked down to Memorial Park where we caught a bus back down to the Old Market.

  14. Edit

There are lots of planes with banners flying around for the CWS and this one was offering free bacon!
