Take a screen grab of the top of your current Facebook page and open it in your image editing software. Select the space taken up by your current cover photo and delete. Make this the top layer and lock in place. Create a layer below and either add a photo or fill it with a pattern. To add a pattern, draw a rectangle slightly larger than the cover image and set the Fill Option to Pattern before picking something you like. Check out SubtlePatterns.com if you're out of inspiration.
