• This month is the London Restaurant Festival with lots of fancy restaurants around the city offering cheap deals on set menus.
  • Excited to go to the top of The Gherkin, Tom booked us dinner at Searcys on the 39th Floor.
  • After going through security and taking two lifts to reach the dome at the top, we were seating at the windows with the most amazing view of the city. Being so high up felt like being on a plane and I was grateful when our waiter prepared sparkling cocktails for us at the table.
  • To start, I had ricotta with butternut, super green pesto and toasted pumpkin seeds. The way it was presented made it look so artistic.
  • Tom had crab with melon and avocado purèe.
  • The sun had begun to set as we were finishing our starters and the sky was such a pretty colour.
  • My main course was a wild mushroom tart with mushrooms and artichoke purée.
  • Tom had cod with pumpkin pearl barley risotto.
  • Moving on to dessert, they brought out some chocolate truffles on a plate of nibs coffee beans.
  • I ordered Arctic roll cheesecake with carrot and candied walnuts.
  • Tom had Chocolate ganache tart with malt ice cream and Guinness.
  • The sky was fully dark by the time we had finished our desserts and we made our way upstairs to the cocktail bar in the very top of the dome.
  • We sat on the opposite side of The Gherkin giving us a completely different view of London, this time with Tower Bridge and the Thames glittering below us.
  • Tom had a dirty martini while I had the ultraviolet with blackberries, lime & mint shrub, crème de violet, prosecco and some gorgeous fresh flowers on top.
