Once a year, London Transport have a special day called Imberbus where you can ride a vintage Routemaster to the military ghost town of Imber.
-
-
We headed to Warminster Station to catch our Routemaster and I'd worn my Cath Kidston bus print skirt especially for the occassion.
-
-
-
-
-
We set off and the bus made it's way past military checkpoints into a field with "Danger Unexploded Military Debris" signs dotted along the sides of the road.
-
-
-
The military had been using old tanks for target practise so the fields were a graveyard of burnt out tanks.
-
-
-
We then arrived at Imber, a town which had been evicted for military training during World War 2 and then the residents never returned.
-
-
-
-
Most of the buildings were bombed out and damaged but the village church still stands in perfect condition in the middle of the town.
-
-
-
-
It was then time to jump back on the bus and giggle at the ones heading to Brazen Bottom.

We picked up the Fig and actually had to drive him back through the military roads to get to our campsite. We drove him very very carefully.
