Daily specials were listed on a chalkboard and we were encouraged to order hot dishes from the menu and help ourselves to pastries, cereals and fruit juices which were laid out on a long wooden counter.

The panoramic view over the city was my favourite thing, especially early in the morning when you would wake up to see the shopkeepers opening up next door in St Nicholas Market and at sunset when you could watch the buildings light up and come to life.
