To celebrate Tom's 30th birthday, I'd booked an entire train carriage at Sleeperzzz, a train carriage hostel in the Highlands and invited all of his friends for a surprise party.

-
-
Everyone had their own little carriage to stay in with beds, comfy first class seats and original train features.
-
-
-
We also had a carriage for a living room, dining room and kitchen, which we filled with snacks and cocktails. I'd brought a box of 12 bottles of fizz so that we definitely wouldn't run out.

I'd kept it a secret who I'd invited to the party, so that he'd have a mini surprise each time someone turned up. Laura was first to arrive as she'd caught a train from Edinburgh straight to Rogart station, followed by Mel & Dave who had driven up from London.

Dave quickly put his cooking skills to work on the BBQ, grilling up delicious vegetarian paneer kebabs that he'd prepared at home. They tasted amazing!
-
-
Lauren & James arrived from Aberdeen next, bringing all kinds of delicious picnic foods and party treats, including my new favourite, marshmallow top hats!
-
-
Tom tested out his new present, a snow cone maker by making everyone frozen cocktails and rainbow snow cones.
-
-
-
Duncan, Alex, Louise & Jamie arrived shortly after bringing whisky and gin to get the party started.
-
-
-
The train began to look so pretty as the sun set and the fairy lights lit up.
-
-
-
We'd set up a gazebo in the garden, so we could sit out at night and it was just big enough to squeeze us all under.
-
-
Kenny & Claire were last to arrive and it was time to surprise Tom with his birthday cake.
-
-
I'd baked him a rainbow cake covered in cream cheese frosting and sprinkles.
-
-
I had no idea how it had turned out until we cut into it, so I was so relieved to see that it had worked!
-
-
We'd also got him a guitar shaped pinata filled with sweets and toys. It was funny watching him try to hit it.
-
-
-
When we got cold, we headed inside to sit in the carriages and Kenny had prepared a pub quiz inspired by the year Tom was born.

It took so much planning but everything came together in the end and we were so happy that our friends could make it.
