Ceri gave Tom some tickets for The Falkirk Wheel that she couldn't use so we invited Mum & Dad to go on it with us.

Tom was really excited about the wheel, but my Mum and I weren't too sure what to expect and how it would work but we like boat trips, so we were happy to tag along.

The Falkirk Wheel replaced a series of lochs connecting the Clyde canal to the Union canal with a rotating boat lift.
-
-
Boats travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh, can take their a spin around the wheel for free but there are also passenger boats that anyone can pay to go on.

I was impressed by how smooth the lift was. It was hard to tell that we were even moving until you looked out the window and saw the water below.

Once at the top, the boat took a little 5 minute trip down the canal and back again before the wheel rotated us down to where we started.

-
I giggled when I spotted the keys for the wheel had a cork keyring so that they'd float.

Tom shot a timelapse video of our trip.
