Formerly a burrito bar, Byron's new location on Lothian Road had opened a week earlier with a spacious new layout and hipster makeover.

The staff were so friendly as they showed us to our table and brought our drinks. I had root beer with a shot of The Kraken rum, while Tom tried one of Byron's beers.

Being vegetarian, we're sometimes a little stuck for options at burger restaurants, but the waitress told us that we could order any burger on the menu and they would replace the meat with their bean patty or mushroom burger.
-
-
Feeling spoilt for choice, we decided to pick the most unique sounding burgers on the menu and a side of sweet potato fries which were so crispy and delicious.

-
And though I tried my best to make as many puns as I could, Tom won the cheesiest joke award of the night with:

"If I have a bee in my hand, what do I have in my eye? Beauty! Because... beauty is in the eye of the bee-holder!

I ordered a Byronaldo topped with crispy bacon, cheese and Bovril onions, but made it vegetarian by replacing the bacon with mushrooms which worked really well.

-
Meanwhile, Tom tucked into the B-Rex topped with onion rings, cheese, jalapeƱos and pickles. Perfect for anyone who likes their food a little spicy!
-
-
Even though I was so full after our burgers, Tom couldn't resist ordering a peanut butter caramel sundae for us to share.

With lost dog posters in the toilets, temporary tattoos on the tables and candy burgers to take away, it was the perfect location for a date night with your loved ones, friends or family!
